How does Invisalign work?
Invisalign uses a series of custom-made clear aligner trays to gradually straighten teeth. Each tray is a slightly different shape that applies gentle pressure to slowly bring your teeth into the ideal position.
How does it compare to braces?
When put up against braces, Invisalign has a number of distinct advantages:
- The clear plastic makes it almost invisible to the naked eye.
- The trays are removable, meaning you won’t have to alter your diet or oral hygiene habits.
- The smooth plastic won’t irritate your lips and cheeks like metal braces.
- Often, Invisalign is able to straighten teeth in much less time than braces; treatment typically takes 9-15 months, while braces can easily require 2 years.
How often will I need to see the dentist?
Invisalign doesn’t need to be adjusted and tightened like braces, so we’ll only ask you to come in for a progress check every 4-6 weeks. Over the course of your treatment, this will save you a huge amount of time.
How does Invisalign feel?
Each aligner tray will feel a little bit tight the first few days you wear them, but don’t worry, that just means the treatment is working! This will quickly wear off, and before you know it, you’ll barely notice them at all.
