A Houston Native, A Family Legacy
Dr. John Krell is a native Houstonian who grew up in a family of dentists. Four relatives chose the profession before him, so following that legacy felt only natural. He earned his Bachelor of Science from the University of Houston and his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) School of Dentistry, graduating in 1989.
He began his career alongside his brother, Dr. Bill Krell, and in 1996 acquired the practice of retiring dentist Dr. Charles Goolsbee. In the three decades since, Dr. Krell has transformed that office into a high-tech, state-of-the-art practice where patients receive exceptional care in a calm, welcoming environment.
A Philosophy of Conservative, Patient-First Care
Dr. Krell’s approach blends advanced technology with a conservative, minimally invasive philosophy, preserving natural tooth structure wherever possible and making thoughtful decisions focused on long-term oral health. He completes continuing education every year and keeps his team current on the latest techniques, from CEREC same-day crowns and laser dentistry to dental implants and sedation options that keep every visit comfortable.

Community Leadership
Beyond the practice, Dr. Krell served on the Board of Directors of the Greater Southwest Houston Chamber of Commerce for six years, where he developed and chaired the healthcare committee. His volunteerism earned him the Distinguished Director Service Award for his long-term service to the community.
He has sponsored and hosted numerous fundraisers, supporting the Fund for Animals and the SPCA, organizing Toys for Tots drives, and even playing Santa Claus for Covenant House. Giving back to Houston remains close to his heart.
Beyond the Office
Dr. Krell is devoted to his profession, but his two children, Alexandria and Johnny, are the loves of his life. And when the winds and tides are just right, you might find him wading through the South Texas marshes in search of trout or redfish — still hoping, one day, to land a tagged redfish or a world-class trout.
