What Causes Snoring
Houston's Dentist Explains The Why
While a person sleeps, the muscles and soft tissues in the throat and mouth relax, making the airway become smaller. This decrease in the airway space increases the velocity of air flowing through the throat at mouth. As the velocity of the air is increased in the constricted space, soft tissues like the soft palate and the uvula vibrate, and this is what creates the “iconic” snoring sound.
